Insomnia VA Rating: How the VA Rates Insomnia for Disability Claims

Insomnia VA ratings are assigned under 38 CFR § 4.130 and range from 10% to 100%, but the VA isn’t measuring how badly a veteran sleeps. Ratings, instead, reflect overall mental health impairment, not insomnia symptoms in isolation.  Insomnia is typically rated by analogy under the General Rating Formula for Mental Disorders rather than its own dedicated diagnostic code. Both of those facts shape how successful claims are built and where most veterans lose ground.

At InjuredVeterans.com, our VA-accredited attorneys and support staff help veterans nationwide build and defend VA disability claims.
