Let Us Fight For Your Benefits

Are you a U.S. veteran with one or more service-connected disability ratings? Use our quick and easy VA calculator to estimate your combined disability rating and monthly payment. Simply enter some basic information about your individual ratings, where your injuries are located, and your dependents, and the VA rating calculator will provide you with a personalized estimate on demand. TDIU (Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability) and SMC (Special Monthly Compensation) may apply.

Results are based on VA math and pay tables for 2026. Please note that our VA disability rating calculator is not intended for use by CHAMPVA (Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs) or DIC (Dependency and Indemnity Compensation) recipients, and that the VA makes all final decisions on disability ratings and compensation.

What Your Results Mean

We’ve updated the data from our 2026 VA disability calculator to reflect current VA math and pay rates.

Your Combined Disability Rating

The VA takes a whole-person approach to ratings, meaning your combined rating isn’t just an addition of two or more percentages. Instead, the VA starts with your highest rating and applies subsequent ratings to your “healthy” percentage (i.e. the 60% remaining with a 40% disability rating). They then round to the nearest 10%.

Your Estimated Monthly Payment

Your estimated monthly payment is based on a number of factors:

  • Combined rating: The higher your combined VA disability rating, the more you are eligible for in monthly compensation.
  • Dependents: Having a dependent child (or children), spouse, and/or parent(s) increases monthly pay for veterans with a 30% disability rating or higher.
  • Bilateral Factor: If your disability affects both arms or both legs, or if it affects your skeletal muscles, 10% is added to your total disability rating, and your payment goes up.

Monthly payments are increased for those with TDIU (Total Disability Individual Unemployability) or SMC (Special Monthly Compensation). If one or both of these apply to you, make sure to note that when entering information in the calculator.
