On April 7th, 2016, the new Arizona Veterans\u2019 memorial Cemetery in Marana, AZ, became the one hundredth cemetery funded with a VA grant.\u00a0 The VA\u2019s Veterans Cemetery Grants Program, established in 1980, has 134 partnership cemeteries across the country that improves veterans\u2019 access to burial benefits. More than 35,00 burials were provided in 2015. A total of $665 million has been granted to establish, expand and improve veterans\u2019 cemeteries in 47 states and territories; the latest grant in Arizona totaled $8.9 million. Veterans with a discharge issued under conditions other than dishonorable, who completed a period of active duty service as required by law, as well as their spouses, eligible dependents and children, may be buried at the location.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
